Addiction-and-fearMental Health Crisis and Hotlines are designed to help those individuals who are experiencing serious mental health crisis, and are in the need of immediate assistance. Many family members are often puzzled as to what to do with their loved ones who are experiencing a severe mental health crisis. Often times, the families are unprepared for a particular situation, and find themselves in despair to help their loved one.

What is a mental health crisis?
A crisis is any situation in which a person’s behaviors places them at at risk of
hurting themselves or others, as well as when they are not able to resolve the
situation with the skills and resources available.

Mental Health Crisis is  “behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric situation which, would likely result in significantly reduced  levels of functioning in primary activities of daily living, or in an emergency situation, or in the placement of the recipient in a more restrictive setting,
including but not limited to, inpatient hospitalization.”

What causes a mental health crisis?
Many things can lead to a mental health crisis.  For so many people, the main cause of mental health crisis are :stress, physical illness,
problems at work or at school, changes in family situations, trauma and violence.  For someone with mental health illness problems, these issues may result in crisis, unlike everyone else who can deal with the issues in more stable manner.
